So, Egypt was interesting…
Wow, i have done a bad job of keeping on top of things. A long time ago i started a post with this title, and didn’t have time to finish it. It remained saved in limbo like that for what seems like ages now. Just last night i finally got a short blurb written about the trip for my church newsletter. You can check it out here [docs.google.com] if you want, it is shared using google’s docs and spreadsheets service, quite new and constantly being updated, but quite a promising feature. The article is fairly brief (i didn’t want to write something to long and rambling) and misses probably 94% of my experiences over there, but it is something at least
.
I decided to change my blog’s theme to something more along the lines of fall. and unfortunately this theme breaks some of the layout of previous posts (notice the two images below breaking out of the post entry in firefox and Internet Explorer?). I am quite exhausted right now so i will leave more updates about the goings on in my life until later.

I’m goin to Egypt – hopefully
Hello All,
Today has arrived, the sun is shining (not really), and i am all packed (not quite). Tonight at 7:10 pm i leave for Egypt… woot! I am getting excited, but am rather apprehensive about my flights and will feel better when i make it to Cairo without any delays or re-routings to ports of authority becuase of suspicious behaviour. Wish me incident free travels!
Weather will be a doosy (sp?). A quick look at the weather in cairo shows weather at or near the 100s! It will hopefully be a more dry heat so i think i can handle it wearing long pants…
Anyways, that is my news for today. I will be back at some point (hopefully the night of Sept 7th) with good stories about spiting camels and dusty monks, etc etc. Maybe you will even get a story or two from me before then, but I doubt that St Catherine’s Monastery has internet access. So updates will probably only be at the end of the trip, when i have a few days in Cairo to look at all the egypty things before heading back.
Bye all!

I found my tickets
I got my tickets for my flight to Egypt and the Sinai today! it is exciting to be all official now. I was originally planning to get them a week or two ago, but as most people know i tend to put things off. Happily enough, my procrastination turned to profit, as today i was able to find my tickets for about 400 dollars less than the last time i looked at the prices. I am flying out of philly monday August 28th, and will be returning on thursday september 8th. For those of you who don’t know, i am flying out to cairo and the sinai to join my sister, Kristine, as she ‘joy rides’ around from Istanbul to the Sinai and then to Rome. Actually she is doing some travels to aid in her research as she gets ready to get her doctorate, but for me it is all glorified vaca.
Regarding the rest of life – i had a wonderful weekend down in lancaster. Did an art walk on friday with mel and the governor of pa, saw pirates II on sat, and thanks to Megans ‘wonderful’ (can you feel the sarcasm?) suggestion stayed past the credits for the rediculously stupid 2 seconds of extra footage. and sunday i did some all purpose relaxing before going to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo in concert at Longs Park. They were really fun, people starting getting up on the stage and joining in on the dancing… it was all cute and entertaining when it was only a few people, and little kids at that, but then everyone started to flock towards the stage and it started to feel really hokey, like the ending of Rat Race.

Coming home
We are coming home already! as of now, we are still on schedule, but we have yet to make either of our two flights, so we could still be delayed. If you need to know when to come pick people up from landisville (or landisvalley, i forget which one) you can call Clarence Rutt, his number is (717) 898-2996. He will know about when we are getting there hopefully around 3pm. Since we are currently scheduled to land around 2pm, and are going to be calling him when we do land. We “get” to wake up around 4ish am here to head off the the airport, so i am gonna go catch a few winks i think.
