I am feeling tired at the end of a rather long week, and all i can think about is how much spam and junk mail i get everyday! But no, spam and junk mail do not define me, but i just felt like writing something that didn’t have to maintain the appearance of intention or meaning, so i did.

This post is dedicated to ubuntu linux, and most specifically their latest release code named feisty fawn.  Ubuntu releases are always given alliterative names, starting at the beginning of the alphabet, and going forward.  The release previous to this one was edgy eft.  fun huh?

Anywho, the coolest thing about these recent linux distros is that they put their desktop OS’s on live cds, which (in case you didn’t read the link for ‘live cd’ above) lets you pop the cd in your drive and boot into a fully functional linux desktop, without touching your existing computer at all. pretty sweet.

Feisty fawn finally provides what i would consider excellent support for wireless networking, especially in a roaming mode, allowing you to easily move from one wireless network to another.

I had other things i was gonna update about, but i can’t think what they were anymore and dinner is calling, perhaps i will post more later?

Rushing through things, even when you are positive you know what you are doing, can still have its negative consequences.  Today i mistakenly, and somewhat unknowingly, lost my last two weeks or so of journal data!  I had migrated all my stuff over to a beefier webhost account around that time, and decided to leave the old junk around until my account expired (today), just in case i needed the backup.  But somewhere along the process, i never updated the database that my journal uses to point to my new site, so i was writing posts to my old database, which i deleted today!

So that explains why this was down most of the day, for those of you that complained.  One quick configuration change and i am back pointing at the correct database, minus the last two weeks of updates.  so let me recap.
