There and Back Again

Sleepy weekends are good/bad. good becuase it feels good to not really do anything. bad becuase it doesn’t feel that good to not really do anything. Friday night i went to see V for Vendetta, along with mel, my cousin peter, and both my sis’ kristing and laura who where home for one reason or another. I thought it was a pretty good movie, some parts of the plot didn’t realy convince me, but it was a unique enough plot (in my mind) that any weaknesses could go overlooked. an rather intellegent film as entertainment goes.

Work is going… painfully. i feel like i need a vacation. so we need to get plans together for this camping weekend or whatever guys! seriously i need a break. i feel like i have been too responsible too long. and it is nice to occasionally feel unresponsible (not necissarily irresponsible).

Oh, i almost forgot, I have plans in the work to finally move. this is assuming that I sign my rental lease on tuesday without any hitches. so yeah, April 1st i am planning to move to 108 south 16th street, camp hill pa. rock on! i can’t wait to be only 2.9 miles from work, a great deal closer than the current 44.9 miles. yes, it is kinda sudden move, but when i have been contemplating it for over 6 months now, it really isn’t all that out of the blue.

…is what happens when you try to focus on both work and play. or so i find it. Monday night i decided to head home early enough to make it to play volleyball at James St Mennonite at 7pm. it was one heck of a blast. mel had told me about it a while back, and then dan bru mentioned it to me this past sat, so i decided it was about time. i forgot how much i love that game, and it doesn’t hurt that i am tall!

I think i have started to many things in the lancaster area that i now have reasons not to want to move to the harrisburg area. not like there is nothing to do there, but when you have a good thing goin on why mess w’ it? so basically now that i thought i made up my mind to move soon, i have some good excuses for postponing that mentally.

Other news, V for Vendetta is out in theatres now i believe. it is a new trillogy from the Watchoski brothers (aka matrix) and stars a shaven headed Natalie Portman. I want to see.

So i am a fool. i just completely lost my post. I have been thinking about spending a weekend sometime (like i ever have free time anymore though) and implementing some AJAX code into my site to help me save entries so things like this don’t happen (if you are a gmail user, AJAX is the type of thing that enables the gmail interface to feel the way it does (ie no page loads when refreshing info, auto saving drafts)). GAH

Anywho, this is prolly better anyway cuz i think i was whining alot in the previous blogging attempt. I have been fairly busy at work the past couple weeks. but its a good busy becuase I am doing some of the things that i think are the coolest. basically i have been working on some grounds up application development lately. I love it because it allows me the opportunity to make all kinds of wonderful design calls, like deciding how to present options to the enduser, what the best interface layout is, designing sweet looking custom controls, etc etc. but all this is icing on the cake, I try my best not to lose focus on implementing the core functionality that i need.

I also did some playing around today on finding a good way to comment my code a la .NET. seems there is alot of reason to use xml style commenting in .net, becuase it can be used to automagically generate code like this msdn.microsoft.com, but VB.NET doesn’t support the xml commenting natively, unlike C#.NET. so after some searching i found some nice opensource plugins that let me do the same thing with my vb code, and voila in a few seconds i come up with beautiful code documentation. its like javadocs only a million times nicer!

So yes, I am loving the fact that i keep having the time to learn and play with all the fun coding things that i like doing and learning. as long as it coincides with what i acutally need to be accomplishing all is good.

Some day i will get back to working on my webdesign, but free time is rare when i keep staying at work till like 7 becuase i keep getting up later in the morning than i should… hey, enjoy the 70s that we are having this weekend! it was sweet weather for washing a car WHICH I DID, yeah my car looks major clean now like never be4.
