and its been a while
Funny yet true story. last week i thought i should post some new journal entries, since i figured it had been since like monday when i last posted. then i looked and realized it had been since the monday before. and now a few days later even i finally get around to it. It was a true story at least.
I had a pretty great week at work last week. yeah it was cool. OHHH! nice, there is a thunderstorm going on now, ain’t that fun, a t-storm in november.. back to work though. I have been working during some of my time on setting up one of our system installs for some other guys who are too busy to do it themselves. It is a nice change of pace, a little more interaction with some co-workers than on the standard day when i have been sitting in my cube coding for most of the day. And aparantly the letters D and E are numbers. at least according to one of the included functions in this semi-basic language the one scanning software packages that we use has. The other cool thing was on friday some dude tried to hack our phone system. apparantly the type of phone system we have is one people like to hack. When it was first installed at work they had troubles the first weekend, and someone made long distance calls on it all weekend. Needless to say this time around we were prepared. The never of it though. Real hacking involves more than just coding, it is a whole methodology of presenting yourself as something other than you are, both in person and in code. this guy (probably from russia or some other country over in that area) called in claiming to be from our phone system company, and told one of my coworkers that he had a new password for him, and only needed his old password as a comfirmation. Luckily we are smart people there, but at a large corp tactics like that would totally work. even though we didn’t give him any info, a few minutes later they guy still blindly tried loging into several of the accounts. silly kid.
Outside of work i am finding more room for activities in my life as well. had a fun night bowling on last tues with my cousin peter and melissa. bowling is fun, but i did something wierd to my thumb, and it is only now starting to lose that numbish half asleep feeling… it wasn’t a good thing probably. And on saturday my sister and I invited a random group of people over for some games and smores. that turned out to be nice as well. It feels like I have had some more healthy interactions lately.
Oh, and i also have been glad of this weather. less frost on my car in the mornings, and some nice fall weather to be outside in. Last sunday i went on a short hike down at Tucquan park with laura. it is down near the susquehana and it was awesome with the fall smelling air and the leaves and …. yeah. The path followed this nice mountainish stream (you know the type, clear rushing water… it was cool) which had some pretty cool spots where it had carved interesting swirling paterns out of the rocks it was pouring over. and there was this one tree that was golden yellow, and with the sun shining on it, it looked amazing in contrast to the cool blue sky behind it. you had to see it, words mean nothing.
There is so much more, but not much of a reason to mention it. everyones life needs a little mystery right? 
But basically i am feeling very (or at least fairly) good about things, and so i think i am happy.
